At Sheikh Nazim Zawiya Makindu, no one is turned away hungry. We feed the needy and teach our children the Qur'an and the love of the Beloved ﷺ — a daily sadaqah jariyah carried on the way of our Murshid.
Makindu, Makueni County, Kenya · Get directionsEveryday the zawiya kitchen prepares hot, wholesome food for everyone not limited to orphans, widows, travellers and anyone in need. Feeding the hungry is among the most beloved acts in our way — the Beloved ﷺ joined the spreading of islam, the feeding of food, and prayer in the night as the path to Paradise.
Kitchen
The little ones
Fresh food cooked at the zawiya and served to orphans, widows, and travellers — no one is asked who they are before they are fed.
Monthly rations of flour, rice, oil and essentials delivered to struggling households across Makindu and nearby villages.
Open iftar every evening in the blessed month, where the whole community breaks fast together as one family at the zawiya.
Alongside the kitchen, the zawiya runs a madrasa where children learn to read the Holy Qur'an, memorise du'as, and grow in adab and the love of the Prophet ﷺ. A fed body and a guided heart — this is how we serve the next generation.
“The best of you are those who feed others and return the greeting of peace.”
A single gift feeds a family, teaches a child, and earns a reward that flows as long as the good continues, inshaAllah.
