Where the hungry
are never turned away.

At Sheikh Nazim Zawiya Makindu, no one is turned away hungry. We feed the needy and teach our children the Qur'an and the love of the Beloved ﷺ — a daily sadaqah jariyah carried on the way of our Murshid.

The Feeding Centre

A warm meal, served with love

Everyday the zawiya kitchen prepares hot, wholesome food for everyone not limited to orphans, widows, travellers and anyone in need. Feeding the hungry is among the most beloved acts in our way — the Beloved ﷺ joined the spreading of islam, the feeding of food, and prayer in the night as the path to Paradise.

وَيُطْعِمُونَ ٱلطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ مِسْكِينًۭا وَيَتِيمًۭا وَأَسِيرًا
“And they give food, in spite of love for it, to the needy, the orphan and the captive.”
Qur'an · Surah Al-Insan 76:8

Children Learning the Deen

Raising hearts that know their Lord

Alongside the kitchen, the zawiya runs a madrasa where children learn to read the Holy Qur'an, memorise du'as, and grow in adab and the love of the Prophet ﷺ. A fed body and a guided heart — this is how we serve the next generation.

  • Qur'an & Tajwid. Daily recitation and memorisation with patient, loving teachers.
  • Adab & akhlaq. Manners, character and the Sunnah of the Beloved ﷺ taught by example.
  • Salah & dhikr. Children learn to pray and to remember Allah, and join the circles of the zawiya.
  • Fed while they learn. Every child is given a meal — learning is easier on a full stomach.
